my table

so i decided as i woke up this morning how interesting the books on the table next to my bed are, and how the represent where i am right now. Let me list them

- 'What is Art?' Leo Tolstoy
- 'The Irresistable Revolution' Shane Clairbourne
- 'Punk Monk' Andy Freeman & Pete Greig
- Lonely Planet Guide to Prague
- Lonely Planet Guide to Poland
- 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Gallexy' 4 part series Douglas Adams
- Bible NIV pockety sizeish
- 'My Utmost for his Highest' Oswold Chambers
- Study guide to the book of Revelations Greg Clarke

You could read alot into this list.

Not only does it show how i dont finish books, but i am exploring different genres.
I have the classic christian books, My utmost, and Tolstoy, with your future travellers book of Lonely Planet. I have the nerdy thing happening with Hitchhickers guide, and the activist in Shanes book. I guess im a bit all over the place at the momment and i hate it. Well thats a lie im just adjusting to my changes.

I went from such structure or well working 6 days and just doing that and being on Uni break to Uni being back and learning new things. Ive started 2 new jobs and trying to get the hang of that, and also change to having sarah live in Brisbane. I dunno i like consistancy in my life and how i act, and at the momment i feel kinda inadequate, and lacking consistancy.

to live a life of worship

I love how some people have such passion for things that it takes a hold of their whole lives. I love how people can become free from the shackles of contempory life and live a live of worship for our God. I want to find that place of worship here on the coast in my own backyard, and as i search i would love to share with you the psalters.

The psalters are a group of nomadic worshipers who travel the world and worship God in all. They are apart of a movement to redeam songs of slavory and oppression to become a holy joyous praise to God.

This is their mission statement.

“we are the cry of the exodus.
there is no home for us here.
we are a nomadic tribe of psalters,
walking in the footsteps of ancients past
to the far corners of the present,
united as one voice against the
oppression within and without.
one more echo in the eternal song of our
First Love, our Hope, our Pillar of Fire.”

This passion, this zeal, this life really appeals to me.
I often feel so closed up in my life in Australia, with so many constraints of needing to do so much and not having the feedom i feel God deserves of my Life.
I know what i do each day is worshiping Christ through the little decisions i make, to the moments of sharing with others Gods love, but i would love to experience a life like they live. I think it would be such a valuble lesson on worship and loving Jesus with my all.

I miss the YWAM days of passionate prayer, even our 5am prayer sessions at point cartwright. It was amazing..

I dont know if it would ever happen, but by gosh it would be fun, challenging and so valuble.

I pray that the psalters would challenge, and inspire more people globally to find God in where they are, and to worship God in a deeper way.

my love

Why do i love my friends so much?
Why am i constantly amazed as their strength, consistancy and passion?
Let me tell you.

There are three people in my life who I love so much..

Sarah is the first. She is my longest running best friend. We have done so much together from when I was an annoying grade 4er who stuck my finger up her nose, to going to countless gigs together and talking about life, our struggles, our passions, and boys.. What I love about jacqueline is how she can cut me down when I get worked up about something not worth it, and boosts me up when I feel inadequate to continue on.. She doesnt get embarressed when i burst out crying in the middle of the shopping centre in rage against consumerism, or in anger at where im at. She has been such a support to be and has tought me to be the person I am today. She is the best big sister ever and i wish everyone could have someone like sarah in their lives..

Jo is the next in line and although I only lived in the same city as her for 2 years I feel I have known her forever. What I love about Jo is how she is so kind, and polite, but is not a push over my an means. She is so passionate about seeing (a making) change in this world, and inspires me constantly to live that out daily. I love when I receive emails and messages of hope, and love from her, and am constantly inspired by her passion for Christ. She is one amazing woman and I hope we can be friends forever.

Gaby is the most recent addition and I lived with her even less than Jo. I lived on the coast with Gaby for just over a year and loved every day of it. I loved having her teach me to fire twirl, and play silly games, share music, and especially to drink with her. My favorite memory is sitting on Point Cartwright and crying my eyes out to her and just expressing my build up hurt. That was a real turning point for me and allowed me to move on and its Gabys compassion and zeal that helped me through. Now Gaby lives in Afghanistan and teaches English over there. She is so brave and has such stamina to keep going. She is doing an amazing job over there and inpires me in how she is so in love with Christ and is on the battlefields living Christs love for his children our there. I love when I chat to her I feel she never left yet am encoraged at her stories and delighted at how God is moulding her to be an amazing warrior woman..

I love these three women, and am constantly reminded of how lucky i am to have them in my life.
Im glad i could share with you how amaing they are. These three women will change this world we live in, each in different but equally powerful ways.

Look out world. Here they come.

the joneses??

"Keeping up with the Joneses" is a popular catchphrase in many parts of the English-speaking world. It refers to the desire to be seen as being as good as one's neighbours or contemporaries using the comparative benchmarks of social caste or the accumulation of material goods. To fail to "keep up with the Joneses" is perceived as demonstrating socio-economic or cultural inferiority. Wikipedia

I hate that people feel they need to compete in terms of possessions and material goods.

I hate that people feel they need to buy things for their kids when they don't actually have enough money for them.

I understand parents want to bless their kids but have we lost all creativity resulting in Presents equal Love.

I was chatting to a friend of mine and she was telling me how Christmas, New Years and her daughter's birthday had really taken a toll financially. She was saying she is now broke with no money for the son's birthday (in 3 weeks) and no money for school books when school returns (in 2 weeks). This really saddened me.

The kids had both been given portable DVD players for Christmas along with many other presents and the daughter a mobile phone for her birthday (she is 13).

I know I am not a parent and I probably don't understand what its like, but to spend so much on these events which results in no school books seems so backwards.

I hate that people feel they must buy so crazy over Christmas and it puts them into debt. I hate the way credit cards are given out so freely resulting in thousands in debt. According to an article in The Age, September 21, 2007 (yeah I know its kinda old), 'Credit card debt in Australia has topped $41 billion'. And so much is wasted. In Clive Hamilton's book Affluenza he states Australian households throw out $8 billion of food a year. That is a hell of a lot of food considering some areas of the world are dieing from malnutrition. But that is all another story.

I don't think changing standards of what society believe are necessary items will ever happen. People are greedy and markets are powerful and that cannot be over thrown.

But I do believe education is possible, and if we understand to spend what we have we can hopefully change the psyche of society.

By the way, it's not just the people who don't have much money who can't control it, its people in all wealth brackets who don't know how to budget and as a result overspend. So the theory then goes.. If we learn to budget we can say 'Screw you Joneses, Im in control of who i am' which in my opinion is much better than having the newest Playstation.

again

its been nearly a year.
and im listening to Sigur Ros again.

i love these guys so much..
i love how you can feel the sounds and imagine another place so much better than where i am now..
not that i dont like where i am now.
im sitting here minding my nephews who are playing with nuckles and a babushka doll. i love how the play together, they are so good. they make up stories which are so fun.
before my brother was playing kids songs on his guitar and we were all singing along.. riley and noah were to dance to the music. they were so amazing making little actions up to incy wincy spider and others.
i sometimes forget they are only 3 and 4. such great boys.

im starting to pack for melbourne. but im too lazy, to think what i might need to wear for the next 12 days and cause i have no idea what ill be doing i have to be prepared for camping, clubing and market-ing.
and the damn weather changes all the time..
the obvious thing would be to take lots of stuff. but i hate doing that. and having to cart it around the whole time im there,
i guess that just leaves me to either think or borrow when i get there..

i really want heima// it looks like such a grand dvd..

it will be mine soon/
mwahahahah...

tobacco.

so sitting here, listening to sigur ros, loving the beauty of Gods creation, hating the sickly way man has screwed up what life should be.
cigarettes:

i mean why? what good is there? i should get this out of the way before is get too into it; i have never smoked and hope never to (apart from a puff here and there).

i hate the adictive nature of it, the way it draws in people and leaves them unable to cope without it.

i observed a lady today at work whos first thoughts were to get a packet of smokes even though she hadnt eaten all day and needed food. i dont understand and i hate the way it has a hold of her. i hate the way it has made her weak and has taken priority in her life. i hate it.

i hate the way it is connected to politics. you cant deny the fact governments get a hell of alot of money from tobacco, but how sad is the world we live in that they use this and take advantage of people.

it is currently law that tobacco companys can not print the strength of tobacco on a packet of cigarettes in a bid to not show some cigarettes a 'weaker' than others and hence healthier. this is a big problem as it not only means the companys dont have to tell you whats in the cigarettes but also the customer doesnt know the strength of the cigarette. new, cheaper smokes have been introduced onto the market yet they dont tell you what strenths they are, so you have people guessing buying cigarettes stronger then they usually buy and hence getting more addicted.
i hate this cycle and i can only pray more kids dont start smoking.

i guess its the same as gambling and alchol. both create addictive non-essential behaviors that are financially and socially detremental.

anyway thats enough of me. if you want to real somthing really interesting.. cheak out an interview here of a man who i admire alot. aaron weiss from mewithoutYou.
